Today we had the luxury to put two teams into the field that played a warm – up game against each other. This was the ideal opportunity to have a real look at the players (outside of the nets), especially the new ones that have joined us.

It was a cloudy, cold but dry morning with not a great forecast for the day in terms of rain. Despite this the game started on time and 4 or of the 5 new guys were in action after two overs. Manrich Kotze and Grant Edmeades opened the batting while Juan Grobbelaar and Mondli Mahlombe opened the bowling for their respective teams. It was definitely a day for the boulers with the wicket seaming all over the place in the beginning and turned square later on. The slow outfield coupled with good bowling kept it to a low scoring game. The idea of the game was for the batters and bowlers to spend some time in the middle and get rid of the cobwebs with the match result not off any importance.

A truly satisfying day with everyone giving 110%. After the game we had a nice group meeting with some light refreshments to satisfy the thirst.
